RIP: Jasmine

Jasmine

I just got back from the vet. I had to put her down. She was not in control of her facilities and was not having a good life.

She was a wonderful dog for us. We had her 14.5 years! She was our baby before we had babies. She loved to catch a frisbee and run. She could catch the frisbee for hours - in the air, long distances. She just loved it.

She was not a cuddly dog, but loved to push her body up next to you for a good rub/scratch. But don't try to rest your hand or foot on or near her while she was resting...she would just get up and move. LOL

Please keep the kids in your prayers today as this is going to be a rough thing for them. They were aware I was taking her this morning but will still be hard when they get home. Of course, Christopher thinks this means he'll get a puppy for his birthday in March. Always thinking that one.

We will miss her.

Oh dear, I am so very sorry to hear this. Having a dog for so very long means that they become a member of your family -- in many cases, just like one of your kids. My thoughts are with you and hope you can take some time to grieve.

Warm regards,
Michele (the other one)

I know how it feels... we had Tuffy, who ided when i was away..

he was my best-friend-- and i loved him too...

I m so sorry for your loss... it is very hard to let go..and taking such a decision is so hard...i know!
i remember you and your family..hope you guys get trough this too..

After Tuffy died we vowed we wll never have a dog - as it had so much emotional value attached to it... and its death always was so so HARD.. but now 6 years later we have an adorable black doggie! she is the centre of attention and love!

hope the new puppy fills your lives too!

I'm so sorry. It's always hard to lose a beloved pet, but so much more for kids. I was devastated the first time one of my cats died, and I was almost a teenager at the time. I'll be keeping you guys in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We had a quiet weekend in Ohio with my sister and came home to an empty house. Was very odd. But we are doing okay.

I am new to your blog, so excuse the delay in expressing my condolences. I am so sorry for you going through this hard time. I am a HUGE animal lover, but my heart belongs to dogs. I have a dog at home that is our other daughter and I can't imagine your heart break. Please remember that you gave her the best life and she went to heaven a loved family member - what else could you ask for?

Thanks so much Amy. She was definitely loved on and had a full, fun life. It's odd to not see her following me around or see her nose poking at the back door asking to come in. But it's a good thing - she was in pain and knowing she's not feeling that helps tremendously. Thanks!
